Ingredients for cinnamon hot chocolate

  • Raw cacao
  • Maple syrup or honey
  • Almond milk or your favorite milk
  • Cinnamon
  • Orange
  • Pink salt

How to make cinnamon hot chocolate

  1. In a small saucepan, gently heat almond milk with raw cacao powder, maple syrup, cinnamon, and a pinch of pink salt. Whisk everything together until smooth.
  2. Using a fine grater, zest half an orange and add the zest to the saucepan.
  3. Continue whisking the hot chocolate mixture for another 3-5 minutes until heated through and slightly thickened - do not over boil.
  4. Pour the hot chocolate into mugs and garnish with additional orange zest and a sprinkle of cinnamon. Enjoy!

Substitutions

If you don't have almond milk on hand, feel free to use any other plant-based milk of your choice, such as soy milk or oat milk. You can also substitute honey for maple syrup if you prefer.

Flavor Variations

If you want to switch up the flavor of your cinnamon hot chocolate, try adding in a pinch of cayenne pepper for a spicy kick, some vanilla, star anise, or a drop of peppermint extract.

  • 400 ml Almond milk
  • 40 g Cacao powder
  • 30 ml Maple syrup or honey
  • ยฝ teaspoon Cinnamon powder
  • ยผ teaspoon Orange zest
  • โ…› teaspoon Pink salt
Optional flavor
  • 1 pinch Cardamom powder
  • 1 pinch Chili flakes
  • 1 teaspoon REAL Vanilla Paste

  • Whisk
  • Serving glasses

Method
 

  1. Add the milk, cacao, cinnamon, and sweetener to a saucepan.
  2. Whisk to a boil slowly. Do not boil or you will burn the milk and lose the flavor.
  3. Add any flavors you would like to infuse at this stage. Whisk well so everything is nice and light.
  4. Pour the warm chocolate mix into serving glass and serve.
