Prepare the Flowers
- If you’re using freshly grown hibiscus, ensure the calyces are dried completely before use.
Boil the Water
- In a small pot, bring the water to a gentle boil. Alternatively; Boil the kettle
Add Hibiscus Flowers
- Once boiled, add the dried hibiscus flowers to the water. Let it infuse for 5–7 minutes.
Strain and Sweeten
- Remove the flowers by straining or simply scoop them out with a spoon!Stir in sweetener if desired.
Serve and Enjoy
- Garnish with a lime wedge or mint leaves for an extra touch of flavor and visual appeal. Serve hot or allow to cool pour over ice for a chilled version.

- I don't add any sweetener to my Hibiscus tea. I only use a small amount of dried flowers and leave them to infuse in hot water for at least 5 minutes.
- The tea will naturally be a bit tangy. I like this flavor and much prefer not to add any sugar.
- The secret is not to make it too strong - otherwise, it will be too tangy and you will have to add sweetener!
