What is Spirulina?
Spirulina is one of the oldest life forms on Earth. In fact, these blue-green microalgae are partly responsible for producing the oxygen in the planet's atmosphere that, billions of years ago allowed the planet's original life forms to develop.
Spirulina is a spiral-shaped microalga. It's the only food proposed by NASA and the European Space Agency to be the Astronauts’ food for long-term space missions.
NASA declared that 1 gram of spirulina has the equivalent nutrients of 1kg of assorted fruits and vegetables.

Thailand Spirulina supplementation for athletes
Food, training, and health are crucial for good performance in sports. Intense physical activity takes the athlete to maintain a very unstable balance between energy demand and consumption of nutrients.
As a regular athlete, you put your body to the test, which can quickly lead the body to a state of imbalance and fatigue. This in turn impacts your physical abilities and overall performance.
Spirulina is a natural component that prevents chemical imbalance and thus contributes to optimal performance, both in terms of endurance and muscle power.
Spirulina also participates in optimal recovery.
Optimize oxygenation of the muscles
Spirulina is rich in iron and is one of the few sources of phycocyanin.
Iron is an essential component of hemoglobin, which transports oxygen to cells and removes carbon dioxide.

From the European Journal of Pharmaceutical and Medical Research
Arthrospira platensis is a blue-green algae that has potential activity against enveloped RNA viruses. It may be used against the novel coronavirus as a preventative measure.
As Spirulina is termed a superfood, it can be used as a preventative measure to increase immunity and control disease to some extent.

How is Thailand Spirulina produced?
Spirulina is cultivated from fresh algae to dried powder in an FDA-approved facility. Each step of the process is given the utmost attention to detail.
Technology
Spirulina is a freshwater Microalgae. It contains a diverse concentration of nutrients. It acquires a Photosynthesis ability to grow like plants.
Phuket organic spirulina is cultivated in a closed bioreactor circuit system. Production is continuous from the 1200 tanks which contain an average volume of 250 liters per tank. For the amount of 300.000 liters of water, they are able to maintain the Spirulina cultivation circle for a whole year of harvesting.
Climate
Phuket’s optimal climate facilitates the ideal temperature conditions to grow Spirulina.
The water contained in each tank is circulated with an air bubble system. All cells get exposed to light and are aerated so the oxygen can be removed and carbon dioxide added. It improves the growth characteristics of the Spirulina culture.
Sustainability
The advantage of this microorganism is during the Spirulina growth it develops the nutrients and dissolves CO2 fixation using photosynthesis so the algae biomass can act as an absorbent to purify the air by carbon dioxide absorption. Therefore, it is a very attractive approach to combat greenhouse gas effect issues.
Quality control
In order to monitor the progress of production inside the tanks, a daily ‘’well-being life’’ report of the algae is taken by the laboratory. This data is used to track the quality and progress of the algae.
Harvesting
This phase is a delicate process requiring precision and full mindful attention.
- To harvest fresh spirulina biomass, it is essential to remove the liquid inside the cultivation tank into the harvesting mesh bag. This is a tight nylon filter of 40-60 microns used to separate the biomass of Spirulina from the liquid culture.
- The filtered liquid will be introduced back to the tank again as the volume of salinity and nutrients remaining will be needed to feed the Spirulina, so it will grow back again.
Spinning Phase
The fresh spirulina will be washed and the excess water drained. It will be collected in food-safe cloth bags and put in a spinning machine to simply remove the moisture.
Packaging – fresh & frozen
A dose of fresh Spirulina contains a diverse concentration of nutrients.
Each ‘fresh & frozen' Spirulina dose is packed in an individual jar, full of vegan protein, amino acids, vitamins, and essential nutrients.
Pop a dose of ‘neutral flavored’ fresh spirulina into smoothies, oats, sauces, condiments, ice creams, and much more to supplement your existing nutrition without altering your food’s flavor.
Spirulina Paste
Spirulina paste is inserted into a spaghetti machine which transforms the mass into a small noodle with about a 1.5mm diameter.
A drying process at a low temperature (55 degrees) will further reduce the humidity of the product without deteriorating its nutritional properties.
The Drying Phase
Spirulina spaghetti is placed in the dehydrator at 55 degrees for 18 hours.
The dried spirulina is now ready to blend in a high-powered blender.
The next stage is packaging the fine powder into 3g sachets or pressing it into tablets.
Thailand Spirulina Supplementation
Phuket Spirulina is available in 2 forms:
